Before 1975, the Robin hill area was the place where the South Vietnamese army’s defensive cannon system was installed. After being liberated, the hill was rebuilt as a tourist attraction. On February 2nd, 2002 the cable car system was started construction and was put into operation a year later. The cable car system on Robin hill is always the highlight of the flower city as well as the favorite tourist attraction of the 1-day inner city tour.
History of the cable car system
Robin hill is the first ever cable car system in Dalat city. This system was put into operation in 2003. This project was installed by Doppelmayr (Austria) firm with modern European technology. The cable car route is 2,267m long with 10 pillars support the cable up from pine forest canopy. 50 cabins – 120 m apart are routed at a speed of 1–5 m / sec. A 7,500 m² terminal is equipped with a modern cable separation system along the track to allow the cabin to stop itself. The travel time from Robin Hill (1,575 m) to the last station (1,490 m) near Truc Lam Zen Bus Station is about 12 minutes, the maximum transport capacity is 900 turns / hour.

You will depart at Dalat market. First, driving toward Ong Dao bridge and then turn left. Keep driving on Tran Quoc Toan street until you meet a roundabout. Pick Ho Tung Mau and go straight, after a while, you will see another roundabout. Take the second exit to Ba Thang Tu road (Highway 20). Go straight ahead for about 1,3 km, turn right to Dong Da street. Keep driving for another 450m and you will get to the Cable car system.

Best time to travel by cable car
First, you should avoid the time frame between 10:30 am to 02:30 pm. The reasons are at the time, the average temperature is pretty high and the sun light is also super glare.
