At that time, the market was called Cay market because it was only covered with wooden planks and corrugated iron roofs. Afterwards, the market was gradually formed to get to what it is today. On the side of the new market, the basement is the parking lot, the ground floor specializes in food such as meat, fish, and so on. On the next floor, there are clothes, jams, snacks, etc. And the rest above are business centers and hotels.
Dalat fresh fruits and vegetables
Dalat Vegetable Market is located on the ground floor in the direction of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street. For visitors from Phan Boi Chau street, you should go down the stairs. This place is home to most of the fruits and vegetables of the city. For example: Cauliflower, onions, artichokes, potatoes, carrots, …
Agricultural products brought to market are consumed during the day without preservatives. Therefore, visitors are more assured about the quality of produce here.
In addition, visitors can also buy produce here as gifts for your kins and family. Even though the prices are tagged on, you can bargain with the sellers.
Specialties at Dalat market
The candied and dried fruits at Dalat market is one of the things that make the popularity of Dalat today. At the 3rd floor of Dalat New Market, there are many stalls selling it. Most tourists coming to Dalat could not resist the attraction from them. They have very appealing colors, shapes and smells. Typically: candied persimmon, strawberry, sweet potato, etc.
Taking advantage of available resources, Dalat produces year-round dried and candied fruits to diversify them and trade with domestic and foreign goods. Besides the ordinary fruits, they also produce the “candied rose”.
Actually it is just a name. In fact, this one is made from Hibiscus or some people may call it Red Artichokes. This candied tastes sweet and sour, crunchy and the color is also very eye-catching.
Besides, wine is also one of the specialties here. A little candied bag and a bottle of wine as a gift. Simple but amazing.
Delicacies of Dalat market
It’s a pity to go to a famous big market but forget the food there. On the 3rd floor of the market, there is a traditional food court. The stalls here serve a lot of delicious food such as: snakehead fish soup, bun bo (beef noodle soup), banh can, juice, pancakes, etc.
At all the stalls, prices are listed. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about the price. But in my experience, you should ask the price before order your meal. If you want some snack, you can find it at outdoor market. You have to try some of the best like grilled ricepaper, soymilk, che, etc.
Dalat Wool Market
Because of the cold weather, woolen garments become more and more popular here. Woolen garments in Dalat were mostly embroidered by the local people. The most popular and best-selling tourist items are scarves, gloves and sweaters. In terms of price, it depends on the seller.
Secondhand Market
Dalat secondhand market is very much noticed by many young people. Especially students who want to buy decent clothes with lower price.
Items such as shoes and bags are brought to the market for a relatively reasonable price. However, if any visitor needs to buy a second-hand product, you must carefully consider whether the price can meet the quality.
